The Western Legislative Forestry Task Force was organized in 1974. The Task Force is comprised of two state Senators and two state Representatives (assemblymen) from Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington legislatures. The Canadian Province of Alberta is also a member of the Task Force. Associate Memberships are available to interested parties in the private sector.
One of the common bonds of the Task Force membership is the significant federal land ownership within each state. Federal policy and land management decisions can substantially influence the economic and social structures of the states, and particularly those with large federal ownership. Our members have pledged renewed vigor to advocate cooperative action on forestry issues.
The office of the Western Legislative Forestry Task Force is located in Boise, Idaho at 599 West Bannock Street. Questions can be answered by telephone at (208) 342-8900. The Executive Directors are Jerry Deckard and Roger Seiber.
